Just got back from seeing the "Avengers" and wow, I would say it's a must see movie if you love superhero action movies! I'm not normally a fan of Marvel comic superheros, but I feel in love with this movie!
The movie is about Iron Man, The Hulk, Hawkeye, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow all coming together to save earth.
I have not watched the other movies (Iron Man, Thor, etc.) and so I was a little bit confused during the movie whenever they would talk about their past. This movie, however, did make me want to watch them. But even if you haven't seen the other movies, I would recommend seeing this one if this is the kind of stuff you like.
Iron Man/Tony Stark: Funny character, but at first he doesn't want to be apart of the team. It actually takes a while for all of that to come together. I didn't think I'd like Iron Man, but I did actually start to like him. :)
The Hulk/Bruce Banner: I haven't seen the original Hulk movie, but I kind of knew his backstory. He's still having trouble with the whole Hulk thing, but I like how it comes together at the end. Don't want to give too much away. He was also a little bit of comedy relive during the movie.
Captain America/Steve Rogers: The guy who tries to get everybody to work together. Probably one of my favorite superheros. :)
Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff: I actually know nothing of her character. So not much to go off of.
Thor: Not really sure of his backstory, either. All I know from the Avengers is that he is the bad guys' brother.
Hawkeye/Clint Barton: My favorite superhero! I don't know. Just something about him made me like him. After seeing this movie, I am a Jeremy Renner fan and maybe seeing his next movie "Bourne Legacy". Was gonna boycott it because Matt Damon isn't in it, but I may just watch it now because I am a fan of Jeremy Renner. Oh and in case you guys didn't know, either, he was also in "Mission Impossible 4". :)
The movie is very action packed. Not very bloody, just violent mostly. Some of the aliens were a little scary looking, though. Hardly any bad language. But I was very impressed with it. Was a little nervous seeing the movie since like I said, not a fan of Marvel superheros, but after seeing this one, I'm excited that they confirmed a second one and will be watching the other movies ("Iron Man 1 and 2", "Captain America", etc.).
Do I recommend this movie? Yes, I highly recommend it and you don't have to see the other movies (just mainly for each superhero backstory) to know what's going on. I know for a fact that they are coming out with a sequel. Not sure of a release date yet, but I know it's coming!
*Oh, I would recommend staying after the first set of credits! There's a scene at the end. Everybody basically left, but one of my coworkers told me to stay and I'm glad I did! Sets up the next movie. I think there might be one more scene after the actual credits, but I didn't stay for that one.*
Rating System:
Action/violence: 5 out of 5 stars - not bloody, just very violent
Language: 2 out of 5 stars - very little bad language throughtout the whole movie
Sex: 1 out of 5 stars - Nothing too bad at all. There's some flirting, but other then that, nothing bad as in "scenes" or anything like that.
Mainly rated PG-13 for violence. :)
