Star Trek: Into Darkness (Movie Review)

Just got back from seeing my first movie of the year. Yes, I know it's May already, but just all the movies this year haven't been ones I've wanted to see. I'm glad Star Trek: Into Darkness was my first movie of the year because it was awesome!

I've seen the first one, but I'm not that big of a fan of Star Trek. However, when I found out that they were making a 2nd one, I got really excited and the previews made it look amazing and as it got closer to the time it came out and to when I got to see it, I was getting even more excited and the movie did not disappoint me at all.

So, the Enterprise has been called back home when they are threatened by an unstoppable force. Which takes a surprising couple of twists. But I won't say too much because I don't want to give the movie away.

Same cast is back. Every time I see Chris Pine in a movie, I get more impressed with his acting. Well, it might be because I'm a fan of Chris Pine and so yeah. That could be why, but he's a really good actor, too. I didn't watch much of the original show, but from what I remember, they did great at casting all the actors/actresses.

Special effects were amazing! I'm not even sure how they did all that stuff. Well, I'm assuming it was done by green screen, but you never know about all the stuff they did. It was just awesome and I never even could tell it was fake. Oh, I did not see it in 3D. 2D was fine and I couldn't even tell where some parts would have been 3D or not. I mean, if you like 3D, go see it in 3D, but if you aren't sure, seeing it in 2D is fine.

I do like the humor J.J. Abrams put into the movie as well. It's been a long time since I've seen the first one, but I don't remember the first one having as much humor as the 2nd one did. I mean, it had humor in a good way. Like little one liners and stuff and some stuff just to break up the tension in some pretty high action scenes. Let me tell you, it doesn't take long for those action scenes to happen, either. Sometimes there isn't that big of a break between action scenes, either. So, it was nice to have humor here and there. I had a really good audience, too, when I saw it today. Like we were all laughing at the funny parts and stuff. I love audiences like that.

I do recommend you rewatching the first one. Because I didn't and there were somethings I was a little confused about.

J.J. Abrams did an amazing job bringing this series back to life and I'm hoping he makes more from Star Trek very soon. A 2 year or so break is too long.

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars (highly recommended)
