Monsters University (Movie Review)

Pixar has done it again with another amazing cartoon. I love Pixar, but wasn't too thrilled about watching this sequel. However, that completely changed my mind when I ended up seeing the movie. It was one of the cutest movies I've seen all year. I needed to laugh and it sure did that for me! I've never laughed so hard in a movie before!

Wanted to say that the "Blue Umbrella" short cartoon at the beginning was one of the cutest ones I've seen! I love how Pixar still does this with their movies. And still has the little bouncing light, too.

The movie actually goes back to when Mike and Sulley meet for the first time. But they weren't always the best of friends. I don't want to say too much because I'm afraid of giving away the whole movie. I personally thought I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I did because we already know what happens to them, but it was really cute and well done on how they decided to fill in those years to us and give us how everybody met and everything. They even had monsters from the first one in this one and that was a cute thing to add in there. Remember Randall? Yep, he's in this one. Just won't say how he was added into it, though. I'll save that for you guys to see.

One of my highlights of the movie was hearing Nathan Fillion voiced as Johnny Worthington. The character was perfect for him and I just enjoyed hearing his voice come over the cartoon. He did great. It was funny because when he first came on, I couldn't stop laughing! I don't know why, but I couldn't. It was just awesome.

Loved how they got the original voices back for Mike and Sulley. That was a nice touch. I'm a little surprised since this was back when they were younger, but I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if it was someone else's voice.

Pixar always does a brilliant job at their cartoons. Their cartoons are actually the only ones I'll watch. Even though some of them can be pretty sad (this one was, by the way), I still enjoy their stories because they have something in their movies for all ages. I just love how they do their cartoons to make them more life like, even in a monster movie. I don't really know how to describe it, but I'm sure you guys get what I'm saying.

Next to "Man Of Steel", this is by far one of the best movies I've seen this summer. It surprised me. Like I said, I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. After watching this one, it made me want to watch Monsters Inc. and I actually didn't really enjoy the first one much, but maybe if I watch it now I'll enjoy it more.

This makes a perfect family movie night. I didn't see it in 3D, so not sure if it would have been good or not. I didn't really see anything that would have been 3D, but I wasn't really paying attention to that. I loved that it was short and to the point. It got into the story very fast and kept my attention. It was funny throughout the whole movie and I needed a laugh, so it worked it's magic on me and I hope it'll do the same to you!

My Movie Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
