Since I saw two movies, two nights in a row, I thought I'd combine the reviews. First, I'll tell you what they are each about, then I'll give my opinion of both movies down below.
Oz the Great and Powerful - Storyline:
Basically about how Oz became the Wizard of Oz. Oscar (played by James Franco) is a magician, but wants to do more in life. When he lands in Oz, everybody thinks that he's this big powerful wizard that's come to save them, but he doesn't believe it himself and neither do the three witches that he meets. The rest of the land think that Oscar is this big powerful Wizard that has come to save them.
Snitch - Storyline:
John (played by Dwayne Johnson) goes under cover to catch a drug lord to get his son cleared of a wrongly accused drug distribution. Based on a true story.
My Opinion On Both Movies:
So, I didn't enjoy "Snitch" like I thought I would. I personally thought it was gonna be more action then there was. There was action, just not like I thought it was going to be. There were a lot a slow parts, too. To be honest, I couldn't really pay that much attention to it. I was a little distracted while watching it, so that might have been part of the problem. The parts where they talk was important, so I didn't pay much attention to that part and you have to to know what's going on. I didn't enjoy this movie that much, but I was really impressed with Dwayne Johnson's acting, though. It was more of a drama role for him to play. I normally watch him in family or really action (a.k.a. Fast and Furious 6) movies and haven't really seen his acting skills, but I did in this one and he is a great actor! Not that I didn't think that before, but it really showed in this one. I'm not bummed I didn't watch it. Don't get me wrong, it's worth a watch, but just pay more attention to it then I did. :)
My movie rating for Snitch: 3 out of 5 stars
Now onto Oz. I really enjoyed this movie. Very cute history of how the Wizard of Oz became the Wizard of Oz. Since Disney didn't own the rights to the original, they couldn't do a few things, but I thought what they did was really well done. The special effects were amazing! This one, I probably wouldn't have minded to see in 3D, it probably would have been really cool. The casting was done really well. I thought James Franco did amazing as Oz himself. My highlight was Joey King as the China Girl. The voice was perfect for the cute little China Girl and I loved every single scene she was in. There are some things that Disney did add in a little bit that reminded me a lot of the Wizard of Oz itself. So, that was a really cute touch on their part. I don't think I'll be buying the movie, but it was definitely worth the watch. It's also perfect for a family movie night.
My movie rating for Oz the Great and Powerful: 4 out of 5 stars
