Chin has to revisit the past when he finally learns who killed his father and why they did it and Internal Affairs gets involved.
Internal Affairs really rattles his cage. I did not like the fact on how the one guy was talking about Malia. Neither did Chin at one point, who walked out. But Steve convinced him to go back in.
So, the episode goes back and forth several different times. The main time we went back to was 15 years ago when Chin was reliving the events. But we also went back to 5 days ago when their new case involved somebody he suspected of killing his dad all along.
It was quite interesting seeing the relationship he had with John (Steve's dad). I didn't know that they were that close and boy was John really nice! Kind of a lot different from his son, that's for sure. It was funny when John learned his son was going into the Navy and not wanting to be a cop, but little does he know, that's where his job ended up at.
It was so nice to see Malia back! I forgot how much I liked her. It's so sad she's gone. :( Chin had a really hard time with this part. Mainly because the bad guy that they were suspecting, was her brother.
I know it's bad, but I didn't realize that Danny was not there until towards the end of the episode. Where was he? Why wasn't he involved with the case? He's messed a few episodes here and there. Is the actor filming something else? I felt like because of him being gone, the funny part of the show wasn't there and it was all drama. Not that I mind those one bit, but sometimes it's nice to have a little funny if the episode is overly dramatic. But it was super nice to see Kono back!
Anyways, we finally conclude at the end, that the killer and the killer in the present day, was in fact Malia's brother. Chin's dad's killing, was a gang initiation gone wrong, basically. Nobody wanted to believe for a minute, that Gabriel (Malia's brother) really was the killer or who had gone on to be one of the biggest bad guys ever, but he sadly, did. It must have hurt Chin to realize this. Instead of killing Gabriel when they finally catch him, he just arrests him! Gabriel was also in the middle of trying to get some money from this poor kidnapped woman who didn't know that Steve and his team had gotten to her child who would have gotten hurt if she didn't go along with it.
One more flashback at the end. When we learn the first time Chin and Malia met. It was so cute. She was surfing, lost her board or something and he found it and picked it up. Asked her out on a date, but she refused the first time!
