Hawaii Five-0 "Pale 'la (Buried Secrets)" Episode Review

*Review contains spoilers, so read at your own risk!*

With Danny not being in the last episode at all, I feel like they made up for that fact with this episode. It pretty much featured him. Not so much so where you got to wondering where the rest of the cast was, but it was just the right amount of Danny and the team. Also, the fun banter between Danny and Steve was back and even though it has been in this season, I really loved it in this episode. I'm not really sure why or if it was just different, but yeah.

Anyways, there's a new guest on the show! Danny's mom decides to come for a visit! Well, he knew about it before hand, but what he didn't know is that his dad was not coming and he kind of forces the info (well, not forces, more like demands) out of her right in front of Steve. Probably my favorite part in the whole episode because I just loved Steve's reaction when Danny's mom finally says that they are getting a divorce! Steve felt totally awkward and stepped away immediately.

Not the best way to drop a bomb like that, but Danny really wasn't giving her much choice and now Danny is having a cow (well, really who wouldn't) with the news of his parents getting divorced and trying to figure out why and then trying to piece it back together. Danny does finally realize that he can't do anything to fix it and has to deal with it and realizes how his daughter must of felt when Danny had to tell her the same exact thing. I was impressed with Danny when he felt the need to apologize to his daughter about making her feel like the way he does now. But what was really touching is when Grace knew the news of the divorce really affected her daddy as well.

Yes, during all of that emotional part of the show, there is an actual case going on as well. This poor couple found a dead body in their new house that they just bought! Gross, right? How'd you like to find something like that in the house? I sure wouldn't! What was bad is that there was more then one, but I'll get to that in a minute. It ended up being a real estate agent and to make a long story short, he was having an affair with someone and the lady and the guy (who's name was actually Guy), decided to run away together. But the husband found out and yeah, it you can pretty much guess what happened after that.

We finally learn the mystery that surrounds Grover and why he is where he is! This reporter dude comes up to Steve asking him all about Grover and what happened and Steve himself doesn't even know yet. But decides to give a warning to Grover who is prepared for him, but not prepared when the reporter says he'll leak the story even if he doesn't have the right facts. What's the story? Well, we learn (and so does Steve) what that story finally is. Grover was involved in a hostage situation that went way wrong. Instead of letting the snipers take care of killing, Grover tried to talk the guy down (since he knew the guy) and not to kill his son (whom he kidnapped) and himself. You think everything is going fine, but all of the sudden, the guy has a change of heart and decides to kill both of them anyways! It was really heartbreaking to see that and Grover still feels horrible to this day about what happened. Thanks to Steve, though, he was able to get the reporter off of Grover's back. But Steve just owes this guy a favor the next time. Which I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Guess it depends on what the favor is when he asks for one.
