NCIS "Honor Thy Father" (Season Finale) Episode Review

*Review contains spoilers, so read at your own risk!*

I was a bit disappointed in the season finale of one of my favorite shows. Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful tribute to Ralph Waite (Jackson Gibbs), but there was no story line to continue into the next season and most important to me at least, is that there was no cliffhanger! NCIS usually has great cliffhangers, but this one had nothing and that is why I was disappointed.

However, it was a great episode in itself. Tony takes the lead with their new case when Gibbs takes time off to go back home when he learns of his dad's passing. When I saw this commercial, I was really nervous to watch the episode. Because when this show wants to be sad, it can be SAD! But I was surprised it wasn't as sad as I thought it was going to be. Sure, it was sad, but I could handle it.

Tony doesn't feel right with taking the lead on the case. Especially when the case goes all the way back around to Gibbs! Some of the guys Gibbs put away have escaped and they only have one thing on their mind: revenge on Gibbs!

Here would have made a good cliffhanger choice. Finish the funeral for his dad and then have a bad guy come after him, but that's not how they decided to finish it off. In fact, they decided to finish the funeral and finish the guys escape off as well by having Gibbs kill both of the guys who were after him.

But I did think it was really sweet that Gibbs decided to give the employee, Kal, the store. I also loved the flashbacks Gibbs had of him and his dad. Jackson is the one who taught Gibbs how to build things and it was because of Gibbs' mom, that he started building boats. We already know what Gibbs' next project is gonna be. To build a big boat of the little one he had as a kid.

I loved the bad guys with Gibbs part because it was exciting, but like I said, I'm totally bummed they decided not to have a cliffhanger. It's so unlike this show to have one. I've felt the season was a bit off ever since Ziva left. But it could just take some time for their footing to get back on. I feel like it's getting better, though, so hoping that's a good sign and that season 12 will be even better!
