Movie Review: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

*Might be a little spoilerly*

Wow, it has been such a long time since I've actually gone to the movies. Ok, I do work at the movies, but still, it's been a dry summer filled with mainly dramas and I don't enjoy those much. So, when I heard they made this book/cartoon into a live action movie, I was thrilled! I've loved this since I was a little kid and I knew I just had to see it in the theater.

I can't remember the last time I've laughed so hard during a movie. Almost every scene, even if I knew what was coming, I still laughed my head off. I mean, with Steve Carell, you know it's gonna be funny and it sure was funny and it wasn't cheesy funny like some family comedies can be, it was full on, laugh out loud funny.

So, the movie is basically like the book, though they put their own spin on things. Alexander always had a very bad day (hence the title) and he felt like he was the only one and that none of his family knew what it felt like. They all seemed to live these perfect lives where nothing went wrong. But tables are about to turn and instead of him having a horrible day, the whole family experiences a horrible day and how to cope with it.

I won't give away too much, but it was the most fun I've had in a movie theater in a long time. Ed Oxenbould was perfect as Alexander. Such a cute little actor and nailed everything perfectly. You instantly felt bad for him every time something horrible happened to him and trust me, that happened way more then it should have.

Of course Disney always has to have some moral to the story and it rang out loud and clear. No matter what the day you have, it's important to stick together and know that when a good day comes, you'll enjoy it even more and to think positive. I don't know why it's getting bad reviews, because I for one loved it and I'm 27. It was fun, funny and clean. Something you don't get very often anymore. So, if you loved this when you were a kid or have kids yourself and need a movie to go see, this is the perfect one for you.

Movie Rating: 8/10
