Movie Review: Cinderella (2015)

It's been a long time since I saw the cartoon version of Cinderella, and I was hesitant when I saw they were making a live action movie of it. However, when I first saw the full commercial, I knew I had to see it right away and I was not disappointed one bit.

Yes, it's been a while since I saw the original cartoon version, but they stuck so well to the story, that everything came flooding back to me in each scene. Though, the only thing I don't think was in the cartoon (but I could be wrong), was the death of both of her parents. I was expecting a Disney movie, especially with all the versions of Cinderella that have been out in previous years, to have that now, if it wasn't included back then. So, I was somewhat prepared. A fair warning to those with young kids about those scenes. They are pretty quick, but touching. Still hard to watch, though. But it's Cinderella. Everybody who's watched some form of the movie or the original cartoon version, knows what's coming on the other end for the beloved character.

I've gotta say that all the roles, especially the main title, was casted very well. Cate Blanchett playing the evil stepmother was excellent, but I gotta say my favorite was the main star herself, Lily James, who I don't think I've ever seen in anything before. I loved the chemistry that her and Prince Charming had. And of course, the goofy step-sisters are always a hoot. Last but not least, the fairy godmother, played by none other then Helena Bonham Carter. Who was quite a delight, even if she was only in the movie for like 10 minutes.

Too bad the cartoon version isn't out so I can buy it and enjoy that version again, but sadly, it's still stuck in that horrible Disney vault and won't be released for who knows how long. But this movie, you'll find out on the shelves in about 6 months (around summer, I'm assuming) and I'll be for sure buying it!

My Movie Rating: 8.5 out of 10
