Castle got to take the lead when a murder happens on a flight to London that he and Alexis are on. But it probably was a good thing, since it distracted him of flying. Who knew Castle was afraid of flying? Ok, he blamed it on the turbulence, but I think that was just an excuse. Or maybe he truly was just afraid of the wind. You'd think someone like Castle would either have a private jet or be used to flying by now.
It didn't dawn on me until this episode that we haven't had those awesome Castle and Alexis moments. Since Castle didn't have Kate there with him, Alexis was able to step in and she's actually really good at helping out in this kind of thing. Hey, if it wasn't for her at the end, I shutter to think of what could have happened if that got messy.
This episode really showed the growth of all the characters. Maybe it helps that I'm rewatching the old seasons right now so I can easily compare the two or maybe it really proved that they have grown, a lot. It was nice to see Castle take charge of the situation and realize that one wrong move would put the whole plane, not just him and Alexis, in danger.
I did thought it was odd that Kate wasn't with them. Maybe she couldn't take time off of work or it was last minute or something. But still, I thought it was odd. Or maybe it's one of those rare father/daughter moments that Castle and Alexis barely get to have anymore and she didn't want to rain on the parade. Not that I don't think Kate would have, but it was nice that Alexis was in the episode a lot.
I was surprised at who ended up being the real killer. Ok, I kind of figured that it was an inside job before Castle even brought up that fact and that the sleeping guy that he pointed out towards the end had to do with it somehow. A show like this, I've learned to spot little things like that that normally turn out to be really important. He was way more important then I thought. He was, in fact, the reason why the air marshall ended up dead in the first place.
This was all because of money. Debbie, one of the flight attendants, lost her pension. After 30 years, she felt like she should have been recognized, etc. and wanted something to show for all her hard work. So she cooked up this elaborate plan after hearing about the watch almost every time the guy traveled for his boss.
It was cute to see Kate worry for once. It always seems like Castle is the one worrying for Kate. We hardly see it from her point of view. It was just cute to see her breathe a sigh of relief when the plane finally landed in London and she knew her loved ones were safe.
All in all, it was an awesome episode. One I thoroughly enjoyed and I needed one after the couple let downs a few episodes before this. To the awesome movie and TV show references (Indiana Jones - totally thought of that when Castle said he hated snakes - to MacGyver - was mad when Alexis told him to shut up about Castle meeting him in real life, but of course knowing Castle, Alexis probably has heard it a bunch of times and could probably quote it herself), it's hard to pick a favorite scene from this awesome episode. Did you enjoy the episode as much as I did? Feel free to leave your thoughts below in the comments.
