It's TV night on DWTS! Not my favorite theme night, but it seemed to be the stars' time to get into the groove of the show. Most of them seemed to come out of their shell a bit and have more confidence, while others didn't too much. It's still week 2, though, there's time to improve, if they get voted back in.
Now they won't vote any one off until tomorrow night in their 2 hour result show, but still, with the competition we saw tonight, it will be hard already to see who goes home. However, I always find myself making a mental list of ones who probably won't last very long. Just not totally sure who's gonna go home first.
Even though it's week 2 and I should be used to this by now, I mean, the scoring doesn't get better until they get closer to the finale, but still, I felt like we are seeing too many of the 5 and 6 paddles and not enough of the higher ones. Oh well.
Maureen and Artem are first out the gate with the Quickstep to the Brady Bunch theme. How awesome is it to dance to the theme of the very show you starred in? I thought it was cute and a big improvement since last week and one of my favorite dances of the night. However, they still only got a 26 out of 40.
Jenna and Gleb danced a Tango to the theme of One Tree Hill. Not the best performance. Not sure if anybody else could see it or maybe it was just me, but I could tell that Jenna was in pain. What happened to the rule that once a dancer was injured and if it was bad enough, they'd be eliminated? Maybe it's not a serious injury, but still. Not a bad performance, but yeah, I'll just leave it at that. Their score was: 29 out of 40.
Rick Perry and Emma danced a Quickstep to the theme of Green Acres! Rick was someone I wasn't really interested in last week, but he made a definite improvement this week. Another one of the themes on tonight's show. Confidences was one and improvement already, seemed to be on the list. It was a cute and fun dance. Quickstep is one of the hardest ones to do, so I was impressed with his. Their score was: 22 out of 40.
Calvin and Lindsey danced a foxtrot to the Family Matters theme song! Normally, I think that sometimes the theme doesn't fit the person, but they were spot on with this one. As it turns out, Calvin was obsessed with this show when it was on and it just so happened to be that he got to meet Jaleel White right after! How awesome was that?! Their score was 28 out of 40.
Amber and Maks. They danced a Viennese Waltz to the Game of Thrones theme song. Not a fan of the show, but I thought they did a beautiful performance. Their score was: 24 out of 40.
Jake T. Austin and Jenna danced a Cha Cha to the Go, Diego, Go! Theme song. Not impressed with this one. I can see them wanting to change his image, but yeah, just didn't like this one. Their score was: 24 out of 40.
Vanilla Ice and Whitney danced a Foxtrot to Married with Children. Vanilla Ice was someone I didn't think I'd be interested in seeing, but after seeing last weeks performance, I was impressed to say the least. This time, we saw a different side of him. I thought it was cute that he was "singing" along with the song. That meant to me, how much he was really having fun. Their score was 26 out of 40.
Terra and Sasha danced a Quickstep to the Bewitched theme. Not sure how this routine was gonna work out and it looked like Sasha wasn't too sure either, but whatever he figure out, worked and was probably one of my favorite dances of the evening. Their score was: 31 out of 40.
Babyface and Allison danced a Argentine Tango to the X-Files Theme. This is one of the reasons why I love this show. You see different sides of people that you wouldn't normally get to see and it forces them out of their comfort zone. It did that tonight with Babyface when he had to get "sexy" for this dance and I think it paid off. Their score was: 30 out of 40.
Laurie and Val got one of my favorite cartoons as a kid and it just made me feel old when Laurie said "What's Duck Tales?". Really?! I made the same face Val did when he heard those words. But their jive was upbeat and fun and my favorite dance of the evening with my favorite couple of the show. Their score was the highest of the night: 32 out of 40.
James and Sharna danced a Paso Doble to A Tribute to the Walking Dead. Not my favorite just because I hate zombies. From a dances performance, though, it was pretty good. Their score: 29 out of 40.
Marilu and Derek danced a Foxtrot to the Taxi theme song. Derek was struggling with a routine all week for this song. Sometimes stripping it down and doing the basic is perhaps the most effective you can do. I thought it was beautiful and it's nice to see that kind of performance once in a while. They dance beautifully together. Their score was: 29 out of 40.
Ryan and Cheryl danced a Quickstep to the Muppet Theme song. Something Ryan needed after the intense week he had last week. He had fun and you could tell. He's improving, but there's always more room for improvement. Their score was: 24 out of 40.
